Mediation Services Offered:
Mediation is a voluntary and confidential process where a neutral third party (the mediator) helps families/parties reach agreements without going to court. In Ontario, mediation is encouraged as a cost-effective and cooperative way to resolve disputes.
The Mediation Process in Ontario
1. Initial Consultation
We start with a free consultation to discuss your situation and determine if mediation is right for you.
2. Individual Intake Meetings
Each party meets with me separately to discuss concerns and ensure mediation is appropriate.
3. Joint Mediation Sessions
Whether online or in-person (upon request), our sessions are designed to collaboratively develop fair, practical solutions tailored to your needs.
4. Drafting Agreements
Once agreements are reached, I prepare a written
Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to capture the agreed-upon terms. Parties are encouraged to seek independent legal advice, though some choose to move forward with the MOU as it stands.
5. Finalizing Your Agreement
If needed, your agreement can be formalized into a
separation agreement or court order with the help of legal professionals.
Benefits of Mediation in Ontario

- Faster Resolutions– Court cases can take months or years, while mediation can lead to agreements in just a few sessions.
- Confidential & Private– Unlike court cases, mediation is private, and discussions remain confidential.
- More Control Over Decisions– You and your family make the decisions, rather than a judge.
- Child-Focused Approach– Mediation helps parents create practical parenting plans that prioritize the best interests of their children.
- Reduces Conflict– Mediation fosters cooperation rather than adversarial legal battles.
- Encouraged by Ontario Courts– In Ontario, mediation is often recommended before pursuing family court, and court-connected mediation services are available at Family Law Information Centres (FLICs).
